Remembering September 21

September 21 is a date the world never forgets.
As i made my research to verify some facts, I was surprised to see several events that had taken place on this date (www.historyorb.com/events/september/21).i also found out that many popular personalities have been born and others died this day.
In this country – Philippines, September 21 is closely linked with PD 1081 where the the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos placed the entire Philippines under martial Law in 1972. This was done “to suppress increasing civil strife and the threat of communist takeover following a series of bombings in Manila.”…
This was lifted in 1981.
But It seemed September 21 was not only Marcos’ preferred date as far as the Martial Law declaration is concerned. On September 21, 1944 Jose P. Laurel who was known as the puppet president under Japan placed Philippines under Martial Law. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martial_law_in_the_Philippines)

September 21 is also chosen by the United Nations Organization as the International Day of Peace (www.un.org/en/events/peaceday/).

“On this International Day of Peace, let us pledge to teach our children the value of tolerance and mutual respect. Let us invest in the schools and teachers that will build a fair and inclusive world that embraces diversity. Let us fight for peace and defend it with all our might.”

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon
