Missing Blue

Missing Blue

June is a month of many occasions. Many couples who chose to tie their bonds in marriage in this month celebrate their anniversary.
It’s such a happy month for many of us.I share with them their happiness not because of marriage but because on the first day of June, God blessed my parents with their third angel and that is ME! During my younger days my birthday wasn’t actually that special because we seldom prepare something for the occasion. But I’m blessed by God with a very loving husband who reminds me of this important day by singing a birthday song that awakens me in the early morning of my special day. Then the rest of the kids would join him in the singing. He also would make sure that some extra special food will be placed on the table for the family to partake.
But the end of June is a sad part for me. In June 29, 2003, God blessed us with another angel to care.I was not so comfortable of giving birth to a hospital or clinic, so I give birth to her at home. We named her Jelamehd. The name was my hubby’s personal choice. She was cute. She has an angelic face. Her little fingers and toes were delicate.
Jelamehd’s brothers and sisters fed on my milk in their infant stage so was she. Our kids are our most precious treasures. They were our golds. But there was something in Jelamehd that made her different from the other golds. To me she was gold in blue. She was special. She wasn’t like the others who were very full after a week of feeding from me and she cried a lot. We planned to bring her to a doctor but we’re financially hard at that time. Sooner as we had enough. How I wished I could do something to alleviate the condition of our angel, our blue angel.
Every time she cried, I prayed to God that He’d ease her pains. Morning, noon, and night, I earnestly appealed for God’s help.I asked for miracle on my blue angel.
She was 1 month and 25 days, we rushed her to the hospital. My blue was in bad shape according to the doctor but I had hoped God would perform miracles and made her better. I kept holding her delicate hands as I told her to hold on. I saw the other child patients being pumped to revive but later declared expired. I did not want to think of it with my blue. I was afraid. As the noon turn to dusk we heard the doctor telling us he’d do with my blue what I feared. I held my blue’s hands and prayed she’d get over it. The doctor stopped reviving her after the second try but I felt my child was still breathing and pleaded to continue.
I knew it was impossible but I refused to believe. I didn’t want to lose my girl, my blue. After the third try I cried when the doctor said we have to let go of blue. It was the most the painful acceptance I did my whole life. But who can say no to Him if He would take back so soon what He entrusted us.
Thank God for allowing us to take care of BLUE for around 11 months including the months she was yet in my womb. Today is her birthday. If she were here I would sing her Happy birthday and for sure she’d sing for me on the first of June.

Drawn in the Lines

A well-known journalist in our country was interviewed and was asked how she end up her work with media. She recalled that her husband wanted her to stay at home after their marriage.Normally she mingled with the other women in the neighborhood where they could talk on anything including the misfortunes of other people. When her husband comes home, she also shared their talk with him.
For several times she did those, her husband noticed that she had started forgetting her views in life as a professional.
One day her husband told her that it’s about time that she find job and work.
That was the start of her career as a college professor and later she ventured into the broadcast media.
She pointed out the importance of using our time in a more useful and productive means. Time use must be purposeful enough not only to be more productive in life but also to keep peace in the world by preventing fights. A life drawn in these lines is moving its way towards success as everyone wants to achieve. Later on we become more time-conscious because we’re expected to perform our job well. We perform or job well because of our self-expectations and of others.
Wasteful use of time is impractical. If we have more needs to meet, we should work harder and harder. When we made both ends meet we should continue working hard until we have enough savings for our retirement.
Having enough resources to use when we retire means being happy for the rest of our life. We’d surely say that our life is well-spent and would gladly live it again if the chance were offered us (Bertrand Russell in Three Passions I Have Lived For).
Our hardwork and determination are set examples to our children and others who would like to succeed in life. Our examples maybe like a hand-drawn facsimile – an exact reflection of a life we want others to live theirs.

Beauty Care Products for Free!

I grow up watching grandma and some of my lady neighbors in their traditional beauty care routines and natural products applied on their bodies.

Preparing for a bath, grandma would ask me to pick some citrus fruits (suha as she call it), pound it to crack so it would be easy to squeeze the juice. She then apply it onto her hair together with some fresh coconut milk. It stays there until the washing of the clothes were over and she would continue her beauty regimen. She was in her late forties at that time. watching her do those routines made me wonder why so I once asked her what were those for and she said it’s to to keep the hair healthy. She wore long hair anyway. She would also apply coconut milk on my hair.

Our source of water for washing our clothes  and bathing was a spring situated along the small river. I saw some of the ladies in our barrio did their beauty regimen there. One of them was ‘Nang Elsie. ( ‘Nang short for Manang, Ate in Tagalog language. The young in the barrio are forbidden from calling those older than them their plain names – it’s rude according to the tradition). ‘Nang Elsie had straight shiny hair that hang loose up to her butt.I watched her pounding some pepper leaves that produced sticky sap. The sap was then applied to the hair like shampooing our hair today. I was curious being a teenage girl so I asked her why do those things. She told me it kept hair healthy, shiny and most of all dandruff-free.It was nice and I also tried it myself. It leaves my hair even softer.

Part of ‘Nang Elsie’s routine was keeping her skin soft and blemish-free. She used some papaya leaves. At first she pounded the leaves to soften, then rubbed it to her skin.

Grandma and ‘Nang Elsie were only some of the few people I knew who were beauty and health-conscious I would say. They were not far different from us who loves keeping ourselves healthy and beautiful. Maybe the difference is that all the products they used were free.

I once watched a television program which tackled on nature care sources. They show some kind of mud as skin softener. It was applied to the whole body including the face,It remained unrinsed for sometime. Those who tried claimed the process made their skin tighter, thus making them feel young again. The sight reminded me of our child games where we applied some clayish type of soil on our hair and body just for fun. We thought it’s a dumb thing though we had noticed some fresh feeling of softness in our hair and skin. The adult did the same but none did explain to us the truth behind what we feel until I heard on TV that there are some kind of soil which makes wonders.

Nature is wonderful! thanks God for it. It has offered us everything, from food, medicine, nice scenery and even beauty care products.

The products we are looking for may just be around the corner, in our backyard. They are free so it won’t cost a single penny. besides it has no serum like what’s in most of the beauty products in the market today. Anyway, some people nowadays are already hooked with what their beauticians and beauty consultants are suggesting. But sometimes paying for the services and the suggested products to use is an additional burden. What’s more painful is when your resources are limited. So paying for the beauty services and the beauty products for maintenance is not practical. If we can find an alternative source, then that will be fine and could keep our resources healthy and stable.

Saving our money while having an unending supply of products that keep us healthy and beautiful is amazing.

Maybe let’s start looking around and be resourceful. Love NATURE and SAVE MONEY! STAY HEALTHY and BEAUTIFUL!

DON’T FORCE THE DOOR OPEN!

Most, if not all us would want to grab of what we thought an opportunity made available for us. Some would also try in any means to create an opportunity for them and make sure nobody could block them in grabbing it.  I would say that the former is a normal case. We waited for chances knocking at our door. The latter is self-serving and more of a desire of  getting something without consideration of whether he is fit or unfit for the position. Worse is, many will be affected. Many wouldn’t want you close in their yard, thus making you an unwelcome visitor and everybody wants you outside the door.

People must understand the nature of life. Each of us has our own share of work to do in this society we’re living in. Work and do your best on the tasks already placed in your hands. If you’re…

To Love or Not To Love

Busy days are here again. But its always nice to be back to work because that means to say that we’re blessed to have a source of livelihood

I would like to say that people who have work shouldn’t complain about the tiresome activities called for the job they’re into. That’s where they are paid for. They must remember that before they landed to that job, they had a difficult time getting it. They must take care of their job because its a gift.

People who complain about their work may not be happy with it. If that’s the case then they must resign and find another that job they will be happy with. There may be others who will love much that work they’re murmuring with. Murmuring may mean losing one’s time to effectively give back to the employer the services you are paid for.

Remember, working means having…

Break the Trend

We made mistakes because we feel we have arrived at the right decision. Even if such decisions were not well-thought and studied still we insist it’s the right thing to do. We sometimes do away from consulting the experienced because of the thought that their ideas are old and unfit in the contemporary time. We just inform them we have arrived at a decision and that is final.

Defying tradition has been the practice in our time. Gone were the old good days and welcome the new generationX- the generation of the active, the wise! Our minds seem like inflated balloons with what we already have achieved in life. We seem conceited because we feel our ideas and views are more well-founded by the facts and current events of which we keep ourselves updated.

We should look farther for the possibilities that may not turn into our favor and mirror such possibilities by looking back the truth offered us by the experienced and adults. Doing so will help us minimize the turn out of mistakes not because we’re not told of it beforehand but because we close our eyes since we ‘re afraid to see what’s ahead – afraid of seeing the truth, afraid of giving up something we are presently happy with.

We should value the wisdom of the old. Listen to the voice of experience. Doing so would minimize the turn out of the unfavorable results of the decisions we make. Arriving at a decision without careful study and considerations of the possible results is unacceptable

If we can’t change this, life would be be a cycle of mistakes repeated over and over again.

If you’re good at it, others will recommend you to get more works to do. But if you haven’t proven yet your worth by doing the things assigned to you, I don’t think you deserve to ask for more. Anyways, we have our own reasons for the all the actions we make. Whatever reasons there are, we make sure, it is for the benefit of the MANY, NOT FOR ONESELF!
