This year’s general assembly of Toledo City Public School Teachers was held at CEBECO III Auditorium last May 31. The Assistant Schools Division Superintendent read the DepEd-Toledo Mission and Vision himself. This to remind the teachers specially the new ones of their roles as teachers.Important people also came to grace the occasion. This include the outgoing City Mayor who personally extend his heartfelt thanks to DepEd family (admitting that losing in the May 2013 elections was still painful) of their support of his administration. He added that he wished that DepEd continue its support to the new administration. ( Of course we’ll do). There’s also that representative of Philippine Public School Teachers association (PPSTA) and from the National Teachers and Employees Cooperative Bank.
The afternoon session was more exciting. The election of the board of directors for the Toledo City Teachers and Employees Multipurpose Coop was done. Then the election of the new set of officers of Toledo City Public School Teachers Association (TCPSTA) who will serve for the next 3 years followed.
But what’s more exciting was the open forum . The ASDS answered some of the questions asked by the teachers.(I don’t know if the answers were satisfying for those who asked). There was roar of laughter when one of the newly-hired teachers mentioned of aso (smoke) that comes out when there’s fire (that’s regarding a principal’s action on telling the new not to follow the old teachers’ not so good work attitude). It has elicited different reactions from the crowd. The moderator clarified that not all that appeared to be a smoke really comes from a fire like that of the “ICE”. The exchange of reaction was getting hotter. Then the ASDS asked the school heads to answer. As the microphone was pointed to one of them the noise turned into a hush and all of us were excited to hear her thoughts and she said “fire…?” “I have no fire, but…ahh.. there’s apoy sa dagat (fire in the sea).” It was actually a title of a TV soap opera. Everybody burst into laughter that ended the gathering for there was no more time to continue.
A Centenarian Act vetoed?(http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/416745/centenarian-act-vetoed-for-being-oppressive).To veto is to reject or not sign a proposed or intended act by the chief executive (http://www.elook.org/dictionary/veto.html).
And what is this centenarian act? A centenarian is a person who lives at least 100 years. A Centenarian Act is a bill (Philippine legislature) proposing more benefits to centenarians which include a P 100, 000.00 cash gift plus discounts on purchases (up to 75%?).
The issue why it was rejected according to sources is that the chief executive found some provisions to be “excessive (and) unreasonable” and for being “patently oppressive.”
The 75% discount on purchases is non-tax deductible. It “exceeds the usual mark-up rate of most businesses and will obliterate profit margins and result in capital loss.(Read more: http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/416745/centenarian-act-vetoed-for-being-oppressive#ixzz2UoksnGD8).
The chief executive didn’t object its refiling. Well, the flaws must be ironed out (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/ironed+out) by the legislative body. it’s already a bonus to have lived three decades after the average life expectancy of the people in this country. It entails a lot of self-discipline.Therefore these people deserve recognition. Why not? They must have deserved it. …before they’re GONE!
I keep them of the belief that they’re of great use in the future. They all file up and to the point that I need extra space. it’s so crowded that I can hardly find what I’m looking for. So instead of looking for them when I was suppose to use them, I’ll just find other means since it’s time consuming. The purpose has been defeated. There are a lot that I keep that they aren’t really that useful. it’s just the thought that made me keep them.
Keeping old things is like keeping relationships. When these old things are always within the reach, they don’t seem outdated or worn out. Like the important people in our life, we always want to keep them. We don’t throw them away. But people aren’t things, they’re not suppose to be scrapped. So I would say that they’re similar and yet different!
Reading Matt’s letter to WordPress for its 10th birthday amazed me. It’s not easy to get that far I’m sure. But when there are people who are willing to take the risk NOTHING is IMPOSSIBLE! Such triumph calls for a celebration. Congratulations to the pioneers!
I couldn’t help but relate my own experience with it as an employee. It seems like yesterday when I entered into government service and I was here for 22 years already. The road towards here is unpaved so It wasn’t that easy at first and towards my 10 years. I need to adjust with the people I work with. Embracing changes was always my best option to stay long.Success is my happiness so if I need to do things i might haven’t liked at first, then be it. I am a person who is determined and motivated by the thought that I can be successful in life so whatever it takes to reach my goal I have to endure. I have proven that before when I was yet in college. I wasn’t discouraged by the pressure to quit. I didn’t like quitting. What is worth BEGINNING is worth FINISHING!.
The happy thoughts and memories of the people I work with and certainly with those who appreciated my contribution in their lives are a fire that keep my spirit burning to continue doing things to effect positive changes in other people’s lives.! I always see to it that I can share a part of myself to those who need me and I did it and I will continue doing it.
Now I have started with wordpress. I wanted to stay long here as long as there are people who wanted to read my shares!
“SWEET! DELICIOUS! DIVINE!” Wow! The sound effects are so tempting and you’ll see all of them crumbles down (tsug! whosh!). Sounds familiar? Yup, it’s Candy Crush Saga!
You can’t put it aside. Almost everybody loves this as the Brick Games in the 90’s gained popularity. Check out your fb account, you’ll see help requests and invitations. Sooner you’ll just realize you’re already hooked on this online game.
I remembered one avid player who said that she could not take her minds off from the game and when she saw people in different colors of their attire, she wished to put them in horizontal or vertical lines and… and whosssssssh, SWEEEEEEEEEET, DELICIOUSSSSSSSSS, DIVINEEEEEEEEEE and most exciting to hear, SUGAR CRUSHHHHHHHHHHH!
I don’t sound like I’m kidding. This game really has gained too much popularity not only among kids who loves candies but also with the adults who loves candies in their young age. It’s played by children of different ages, by artists, and even professionals. I just found out recently that one of the game addicts who was caught playing during his free time was a former VP and now a come back newscaster of one of the TV stations in the country! SOOOOOOOO SWEEEEEEEEET, DELICIOUSSSSSSSSSSS…..
This is a MUST JOIN game! So if you haven’t tried yet, YOU MUST!
Most of the recent trends are brought about by the onset of technology. The invention of the cellphone, for instance does not only improve our access to communication with our loved ones but it has also helped increase our self-esteem.
Look anywhere you’ll see people who are like scrats (a half-squirrel and half rat in the Ice Age movie) who couldn’t take their hands off from their loved cellphones like the scrat holding its prized acorn with both hands.
Most cellphones now have cameras. So whatever one is doing he/she wouldn’t forget documenting it. During important and not so important activities you’ll see people in group or individually taking pictures of themselves for their fb or instagram. What’s notable is that even the not so young of age are part of this. There’s the serious, emote2 style and the trendy – the wacky style! We are no longer ashamed of posting our pictures on social network sites. We are proud of having our pictures taken showing our actual feelings when they’re caught.
But what’s most trendy is the #selfie where one pauses anywhere, anytime and pose to take one’s picture in different emotions and facial expressions and that includes the wacky pose! It’s really like a contagious disease, it spreads everywhere. But unlike the contagious disease, it’s isn’t feared, it’s loved by everybody including the not so young fellas. Now when one buys a cellphone, it’ll be with a camera. You know already why!
So, do you belong? Are you a SELFIE?
